Thanks.

Video unimportant, but here's your audio. And the last 45 seconds.
( Alrighty, then... picture this if you will. )
This song is so fuckin amazing, it kills me.
In other news, let's see... I'm spending my last few weeks in the States tutoring a high schooler through a month-long summer course in chemistry. She's just trying to get through it with a decent grade, so it's not that hard, but I wish I could impart some sort of interest in or respect for the subject at the same time. Today I showed her my all-time favorite TV chemistry demonstration:
See, kiddies - elements in a group have similar properties! Like FLAMMABILITY FUCK YEAH except aww, Wikipedia says this demonstration was faked with explosives, since the real deal just wasn't observable enough. :/
Today we covered properties of the major groups plus rare earths and transition metals. Wish I'd had some sort of demonstration element for chromium - such an awesome element (chrome plating, gemstones, paint pigments, being gorgeous, etc.).
My JET assigment is in Shimane prefecture. I haven't received official word from the Board of Education, but my predecessor thinks I'll be replacing her in the city of Hamada, teaching at various elementary schools. I have experience with elementary education, and I'm easy-going enough that I probably won't mind living so 田舎, but I was sorta hoping for an older group of kids and at least a suburban setting. We'll see how it goes. At any rate, if I want to be a chemistry teacher, I'm going to have to eventually learn to teach classes at the high school level.
Meantime n49945 is in town, making my life awesome and keeping me from being productive. ;) Haven't figured out what I want to do for my 22nd birthday yet, but I missed my 21st abroad, so maybe there will be some drinking. I got a little tipsy last night at lil_insanity 's party, which was fun, although I have to learn to not announce when I'm exercising self-control and not talking about my tits. lol
For now, it's Thursday, and I gotta come up with something to do tonight.
P.S. - Here's an excellent guide to the many ways in which people use Twitter. I'm way more active there than I am here at the moment, and that seems to be the general trend for most people on both.

Marymount transcript lady says that my CLEP test *did* count for three credits worth of government classes, but that I'm still three credits short.
My transcripts clearly show that I've taken the other fifteen credits I need.
I don't want to get too excited yet, but I do believe there is going to be a righteous and furious smackdown before this day is through.

| Recording folks? |
[08 Jul 2009|11:21am] |
Hello citizens. My band is trying to get ourselves recorded this summer. On a budget, which can be tough. We're already familiar with the larger studios in town and contacting them to see what sorts of rates we can negotiate. We're strictly looking for recording as we've got a guy lined up to master it nicely and a hook up for pressing and packaging the disc. So if you know of someone who might be a Pro Tools wizard but not necessarily doing it for a living and has a good ear, I'd appreciate the recommendation. We're a "rock" band which is too vague to describe our sound but we'd really like to find someone whose comfy with a wide range of genres and yes we're aware of the rarity of such folk. But it never hurts to ask around.
We've been able to work with people previously for @ $25.00/hr so that's 'round about what we're looking for.
Thanks in advance!

If you watch both SPN and NCIS, run - do not walk - and read Volatile Compounds by eighth_horizon. The story might make sense if you've never seen NCIS, but it won't be nearly as awesome.

So, I spent all weekend cleaning, and succeeded in getting most of my room organized enough for my dad to start messing with the floor. The downside was missing out on a huge chunk of fandomhigh's newbie weekend, which means I still have people who need to meet people, oops.
Interesting finds among the latest mess: at least a dozen more pagan books, six Magnificent Seven zines, a zine of fanfic devoted to the pairing MacGyver/Murdoc (o.O), a flogger (o.O) and a jar of honey. Also, I have now cleaned my entire room and found absolutely no evidence of any living things having come in and died, so my dad can bite me on that front.
Organizing all of my books (they had to be taken off of my bookshelves so the shelves can be moved) reminded me that I have a question to ask of the mighty flist:
Poll #1425816
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All When it comes to organizing your book collection online:
Please help me pick, because they both seem like they serve the exact same function and I can't decide which one is better.

| Yoga Studio |
[06 Jul 2009|09:23am] |
Does anyone have any rec's for a good Yoga studio around RVA/its outlying counties?
So far I am considering Integral Yoga Center or 4025 Yoga & Wellness but I know there has to be more out there. I really want a studio that focuses on all aspects of yoga, especially the meditative and spiritual sides. I don't want a fitness program.
I know there has to be some Yoga enthusiasts here in the community so I would love any rec's or reviews on studios you guys can offer!

| foreclosed homes |
[05 Jul 2009|09:34pm] |

Ok so I'm looking at getting my first home possibly. I figured take one of the few advantages of this economy and look into foreclosed homes. I did a quick online search but all results required me to pay to join a site for the results. Anyone have any advice on sites or places to visit? I'm looking for the richmond/vcu area from like willow lawn to shockoe bottom if that matters

Oh, there's nothing like spending a week getting four hours of sleep a night so you can do all the things you have to do in addition to the cleaning for which you were given little to no warning, only to end up with your father deciding to paint your room a day early because his schedule is the only one that matters, and if what you didn't manage to clean gets paint on it, well, "that's what you get for being a slob."

| my new friend douglas!!! |
[03 Jul 2009|12:42am] |
I do volunteering for 501c3 nonprofits and churches very regularly. I have done this for many years. But ever since I got to Oregon, a very strange thing has happened! This man shows up at every bit of charity work I do. His name is Douglas! Douglas doesn't seem to fit in very much. When we were doing the planning meetings for the community organic farms, Doug seemed to make some snide comments about how he wondered if organic farming even made a positive difference, and made some statement about large agribusiness being possibly more efficient.
Today Doug showed up as I gathered food for the needy. Doug brought a friend! Doug seemed to question the friends I brought along very much, while Doug's friend stayed near me most of the time. Doug's friend wore aviator sunglasses but it wasn't very sunny. Every time I would move, Doug's friend would stay near me! This is strange! Doug's friend didn't talk much and evaded whatever questions I presented him with. Doug's friend's nametag said "Tim" but Doug called his friend Joseph a couple times. This I also thought was strange.
Oh well. I do not know what is up with Doug. Do you think all his eccentricity stems from a crush on me, or is there something else going on?
